Surrey League Ladies Cross Country - Provisional Results
The 3rd match
of the Ladies Cross Country took place at Farthings Downs in Coulsdon on a cold
wintry morning on 14 January. We were hoping for a good turnout and to a
certain extent we did, except that most of us couldn't quite make the start
line!
First off,
I was hit by some tummy bug and was up all night Friday and was weak and unable
to run. However, on Saturday morning armed with the usual picnic basket I made
my way down the M3, and then had to speed back home from Jct 11 of the M25 as I
need you know what...! So I didn't make it to the start line.
Helen,
Marion and Lissa also had their own problems - no, not the tummy bug - just
trying to find the place! Helen and Marion did manage to run the second lap
having missed the start line and as far as I was aware, Lissa didn't make it
after spending a couple of hours on the road.
So it was
left to Mel and Monica to raise our flag over the 8.8k course and very well done
too. Yes, the course was longer than the usual 8k and there was a lot of to-ing
and fro-ing of emails from various clubs debating the distance! Overall we are
26th out of 48th in the table.
Our last
match is at Esher on 11 February starting at 1200hrs. I'll circulate the
details as soon as I get it.
