Concorde 10K and Kids Fun Run – Sunday 10th JUNE 2012 - Marshals needed

Hi All,

You may know that British Airways Athletics club is hosting its annual Concorde 10K and Fun Run event on Sunday 10th June. The Fun Run kicks off activities at 10:00, with the main event – Concorde 10K - starting at 10:30.

To continue to make this event a success, we are after at least 20 marshals to cover the course and ensure the runners make there way round correctly and more importantly safety.  Marshals are needed to be at the Concorde Centre for 09:00 to be allocated duties.

If you are not intending to run, but are able to help out please let us know. Steve Newell will be coordinating marshals on the day, so I suggest to reply to Steve Newell (Steve-Newell@blueyonder.co.uk ) directly and copy me in (Paul.a.Knechtl@ba.com ). Please supply Steve with a mobile number you will have on the day, so we have a contact network available.

Thanks in advance for your continued help and support

Paul Knechtl

Thanks to all those who have volunteered to marshal on Sunday.

We need several more to make the event safe. It is likely that some people will be asked to cover an early and a late point on the course (e.g. 1km and 9 km)

There is a 10km course map attached.

If you are not familiar with the route (the same as it has been for 19 of the 20 previous runnings) then please print it out and bring it with you on Sunday morning to the Concorde Club (by 0930 latest).

If you have a mobile phone please bring it with you so you are able to text race progress information to a central number during the race. I'll give you that number on Sunday.

Last evening the subway under the M4 just short of the 4km point was muddy and slippery. A runner suffered hospitalisation after falling there last year. Given that further showers are likely between now and Sunday morning it would be useful if some people bring a broom to try to improve matters on the day.
