inaugural Woodley Park Run today. The morning was blessed
with clear
skies and dry underfoot, perfect running conditions. The
route around
Woodford Park consists of 3 laps, over half of which is on tarmaced paths and
the rest around playing fields, definitely
suitable for
racing flats if dry. There's a few twists and turns but
apart from a
short, sharp climb up by the lake on each lap the course
is generally
flat. 148 competitors ventured out on the new course,
some clearly
drawn from the ever popular Reading Park Run, a few miles
to the West.
Danny Norman, UK Communications Manager represented Park
Run UK. With
287 runs to his credit I think this makes him some kind
of God! Danny
blasted round the Park in 17:02, a full 1:30 mins ahead
of second
place but as we know it's not about the placings but the
personal
challenges and going by the beaming faces of the finishers
Woodley is
sure to be a success.
